It's a standoff. Blighty vs La La Land. Classic and aristocratic in one corner, sexified and va-va-voom in the other. Only one ocean between them, but a world apart in the style and beauty stakes. Here are the quintessential US and UK looks from the Grammys and the BAFTAS...
LA
Jennifer Lopez
It was a toss up here between J. Lo's over heightened mane and Miley Cyrus's boob-covering extensions, but J. Lo wins out due to the sheer volume of hair. Although it’s to be expected, due to being at an event where people have to scream for attention next to a woman who arrived in an egg womb, but in J. Lo’s case, taking it down a notch to classy definitely would have prevailed here.
Katy Perry
There ain't nothing more LA than eyebrow-skimming lashes (need we even mention the Kardashians?). It's pretty hard to fault Katy here since her overall makeup is so joyous in colour to match her effervescent personality. And come on, she gave us
California Gurls... What did we expect? She's officially the poster girl.
London
Thandie Newton
Proving that subtle can still be sexy. Thandie channels minx by playing up things other than her cleavage, such as her winged eyeliner. Where we would once advise against matching blush to gown, in Thandie's case her glowing complexion brings the look into one gorgeous harmony. Full marks.
Eva Green
Technically French, but not letting that hold her back from competing. Eva lets her brows say what her Californian counterparts would usually say with glitter. Add side-part, a helping of brushed-out curls and let simmer... Completely chic.
Which is your favourite look? Who wins out, the UK or the US-of-A?
