Lindsay's fashion dream in tatters

Lindsay Lohan

She’s blamed Ungaro for her Paris disaster – now the label is preparing to ditch her.

Even by Lindsay Lohan’s own notorious standards, her partying has spun out of control in the weeks since her debut collection bombed at Paris Fashion Week.

After being hauled back to a US court and given an extra year’s probation for failing to attend alcohol education classes, the 23-year-old actress then went on a week-long round of drinking, spending sprees and shambolic appearances in LA and New York.

But her biggest mistake has been to bite the one hand that still feeds her – fashion house Emanuel Ungaro.

With film directors refusing to employ her because of her instability, Lindsay was thrilled when she was appointed as an “artistic adviser” to Ungaro in September.

“Lindsay saw this as her big chance,” says an insider. “She was walking around telling people she’d got a huge contract with Ungaro, and with her leggings range and other endorsements she reckoned she could get a million dollars from fashion this year, that it didn’t matter about films anymore.”

Fashion industry insiders told Grazia that Ungaro CEO Mounir Moufarrige wasn’t too upset with the critical slamming of the Paris show because Lindsay’s presence gained so much publicity for the label.

“Everyone kept asking what they were thinking of, employing someone so notorious, but it was Moufarrige’s decision and he stood by it because he wanted to get Ungaro headlines and Lindsay certainly achieved that,” reveals the insider.

“In terms of brand recognition, it really helped the label and Moufarrige thought he was prepared for Lindsay’s diva-ness.”

What the label wasn’t prepared for was that Lindsay would turn on it and blame Ungaro for the criticism the clothes received. Asked why she thought the show had bombed she said it was down to her “coming in so late and having not that much time to do a whole collection”. She claimed she had nothing to do with the much-maligned nipple tassels on the models, saying she “wasn’t aware of them on the girls until they were walking out” and insisted she would be back in Paris in January for the next show.

But her comments enraged Ungaro bosses, particularly Moufarrige and head designer Estrella Archs. They held an emergency meeting last week to discuss Lindsay’s role and suggestions are she’ll be dropped.

“Ungaro would have stood by Lindsay, but the fact she turned on them has made them think again,” says the insider.

“And she’s looked so terrible in the past week that Mounir has re-thought his strategy that all publicity is good publicity. They’re also concerned about looking as if they are enabling someone who so clearly needs help.”

Lindsay’s antics in the past week have made those closest to her even more concerned for her health. After attending court in LA on October 16, she went straight out and started partying in LA, but became upset when she heard ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson was having drinks with Nicole Richie and Joel Madden at the Playhouse Hollywood bar.

“She kept trying to phone Sam and then Nicole but they ignored her calls,” says a friend.

“Nicole and Sam both care deeply for Lindsay but she’s so chaotic at the moment and they were enjoying some quiet drinks together. They just couldn’t deal with another Lindsay drama.”

On Saturday she went to the West Hollywood nightclub, Voyeur, where she reportedly was seen kissing Sienna Miller’s ex, Balthazar Getty.
