The US Vogue editor-in-chief turns 60 today. Here, the G team pick our top five favourite Anna-isms:

1. The first thing that comes to mind when you think of Anna Wintour is her precise, sharp bob. We love that in the ever-changing fad-crazy world of fashion, Anna’s hair style is a comforting constant.

2. What do you do when a rogue former assistant writes a “fictional” account of her time working at a fashion magazine and it gets turned into the hit film, The Devil Wears Prada? Why you turn up at the premiere wearing Prada, of course. Who said Anna didn’t have a sense of humour?

3. When most of the fashion pack are die-hard devotees to fashion’s unofficial uniform, black, Anna refuses to toe the party line, banishing black from her wardrobe and from the pages of Vogue whenever she can in favour of (gasp!) colour and feminine pretty florals.

4. Just when you thought she would remain an enigma forever she goes and lets documentary film maker R.J. Cutler into Vogue’s hallowed halls where he gives us a fly-on-the-wall account of the making of the fashion bible’s biggest ever issue. Sample quote from The September Issue: On their cover girl Sienna Miller after a fitting: "Let's talk about her, because her hair is not looking its best.” Ouch!!

5. And just in case you thought you got to peek beneath her polished veneer a little after watching The September Issue, Anna goes and breaks all her own rules by turning up to the collections this year, smiling and laughing for photographers and wearing the same outfit more than once. Keeping us on our toes…
