Poor old Britney’s facing a storm of controversy about lip-synching during concerts. So what’s a girl to do when she’s feeling the pressure? Go shopping of course!

Britney hit up Melbourne’s Collins Street on Monday afternoon, first stopping in a toy store to pick up goodies for her boys Sean Preston and Jayden James, who arrived later that afternoon with Britney’s manager (and rumoured boyfriend) Jason Trawick.

She then popped into Douglas & Hope boutique in the Block Arcade and owner Cathy Hope gave us the lowdown.

“Britney was in the store for about 20 minutes with a girlfriend and her minders,” she tells Grazia. “The bodyguards blocked off the entrance so Britney had the store to herself.

“She spent $800 on four dresses,” Cathy revealed. “Two were Fleur Wood and two Children Of The Sun, and she wore one of them out of the store.”

Britney was pretty subdued during her shopping trip, and mainly kept to herself. Her Circus tour promoter Paul Dainty has said that the star has been upset over the negative press she’s receiving in Australia.

We’re hoping Britney doesn’t do all her shopping therapy down south. Our Sydney fashion spies will be on the lookout when she arrives this weekend!

Their careers have always taken different directions, but the fortunes of Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick have never seemed further apart.

Last week SJP soaked up the sun and enjoyed spa treatments at the luxurious La Mamounia resort in Morocco ahead of filming on location for the Sex And The City sequel.

The 44-year-old relaxed by the pool with a female friend (her SATC2 co-stars were not there) and stayed in a $2000-a-night suite. She also booked out the gym so she could work out in private.

“She looked like she was having a really good time,” says a fellow guest at the newly revamped resort. “She was chatting to staff in French.”

SJP is the fourth highest-earning actress in Hollywood, bringing in $25 million last year, on top of her lucrative perfume and fashion deals. She’s also being paid a reputed $1.8 million as the new face of the Halston clothing label.

Unfortunately the same can’t be said of 47-year-old Matthew. As his wife chilled out in Marrakech, his off-Broadway play The Starry Messenger had its first preview performance.

Audience members reported that Matthew frequently forgot his lines and needed to be prompted several times in the first act alone. The play’s official opening has now been delayed by a week.

It’s not the first time Matthew has received poor reviews – his role in another production earlier this year was also panned. Friends are concerned the problems could trigger a return to the drinking and partying that caused a crisis in his marriage last year, when allegations of an affair surfaced…

The actress puts on a brave face as allegations surface of drug use, infidelity and stealing one of her mother’s lovers, writes Jenny Paul

Shortly after Angelina Jolie awoke last Tuesday morning at the four-bedroom house Brad Pitt owns in a gated community in Beverly Hills, the couple’s British-based lawyers rang with news that prompted the actress to spend the rest of the day in tears.

Lurid claims the 34-year-old allegedly slept with her mother’s boyfriend when she was just 16 had been plastered across the world’s entertainment headlines.

And worse, this is just one of many claims writer Andrew Morton – most famous for his biography of Princess Diana – will make in his unauthorised biography, which will hit US stores in the new year.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Canadian biographer Ian Halperin has penned a shocking book of outrageous allegations about the star, titled Brangelina, which is due in shops in just a matter of weeks.

“Brad is furious but Angelina is absolutely heartbroken,” says a friend close to the couple. “She spent most of the day in tears and Angie called a couple of friends saying she thinks these books may well be the final straw that finishes her and Brad’s relationship.

“Angie’s worried what revelations will be in the books and she’s had to discuss difficult things with Brad over recent days, knowing that even if the books aren’t published, he is going to read everything in the manuscripts their lawyers are going over.

“Brad believes Angie has been misunderstood, and now he’s worried these books are going to make him look like a middle-aged, sex-crazed fool who was somehow tricked into leaving his loving wife Jennifer by a calculating, publicity-hungry Angelina.

“Being publicly humiliated is the one thing Brad can’t take.”

Morton decamped to LA for most of the recent northern hemisphere summer and has talked to Angelina’s former friends from high school, as well as some of her ex-lovers and former employees.

He is set to detail Angelina’s alleged affair with a female rock star, and he will make detailed claims about how Angelina allegedly lured Brad away from Jennifer, using sex as a weapon.

But Morton’s biggest coup is apparently his lengthy interviews with documentary filmmaker Bill Day, who was in a relationship with Angelina’s mum Marcheline Bertrand for 12 years, and posted a bitter tribute online after her death, taking aim at Angelina.

Morton has also spoken to Angelina’s former lesbian lover, Jenny Shimizu, who makes various claims about the actress and her relationship with Brad.

“The book, like his other biographies, is going to be nothing short of explosive,” says an insider…

From love rat, to doting father, and back to that love rat label. It’s not easy being Mr Law…

He’s been enjoying a career comeback with rave reviews for his Broadway performance of Hamlet and a starring film role in Sherlock Holmes. But despite these triumphs, Jude Law has yet to acknowledge one very important production in his life – the birth of his daughter Sophia.

The 36-year-old has not visited his child since her birth last month, and friends say he is “torn” about the role he should play in her life.

Sophia was the result of a brief fling between Jude and 24-year-old American aspiring actress Samantha Burke while he was filming in New York last year.

The news he was about to become a father for the fourth time [he has Rafferty, 13, Iris, 9, and 7-year-old Rudy by ex-wife Sadie Frost] came as a massive shock to the actor.

“This is a nightmare for Jude,” says a friend of the British actor.

“He’s always been a real family man and hates the thought of his daughter not knowing him, but he just doesn’t see how he can incorporate Sophia into his life without upsetting his other kids and Sadie.

“What’s so upsetting for him is that he had only just shed the whole love-rat label – now it’s come back to haunt him again.”

The situation has not been helped by the increasingly acrimonious relations between Jude and the Burkes.

He infuriated Samantha and her family by first pressuring them not to speak to the press and later demanding a DNA test.

In revenge, Samantha’s parents and grandmother have spoken out about Jude’s lack of support while she posted semi-nude photos of her pregnant stomach on her blogsite.

She has also negotiated to sell the first pictures of Sophia to a magazine for $300,000 and is reportedly demanding $10,000 a month from Jude in child support...
