With Rosemount Australian Fashion Week now in full swing, Grazia's online producer, Amanda Spackman, caught up with some of this year's most coveted designers to get the low-down on what's hot for spring/summer 09-10.
Marnie Skillings is all geared up for Fashion Week and goes gangbusters on her latest collection.
What's inspired your spring-summer 2009-10 collection?
Girl gangs and girl subcultures, bosozoku girls (Japanese motorcycle gangs), biker girl meets flower child, summer girl posse, Siouxsie Sioux, Virginia Hey's character in Mad Max 2, Stevie Nicks, Jackson Pollock and Tura Satana from Russ Meyer's 1965 cult film, Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!
What's the coolest item in the collection?
The pockety boiler suit and the jumpsuit maxi.
Which two pieces do you think will sell-out the quickest?
The teeming shoulders mini and the puff sleeve maxi.
Describe a day in your life in one sentence
Challenging, inspiring, adventurous, whimsical and fun!
What tracks will be played at your show?
Siouxsie and the Banshees and Fever Ray.
What are you doing after it's all over? What are your post-Fashion Week plans?
A belated birthday bash! Plus maybe some time away in a cottage somewhere.
What's been your most recession-proof purchase; something that has stood the test of time?
My Chanel wallet still gorgeous, still functional, love it!
What's your best survival secret to getting through Fashion Week?
Try to enjoy the moments, even the hard, tiring ones as much as the fun and excitement so you can think back and smile when it's all in the past.
