The
Grazia team take the latest, greatest and most fabulous finds from our fashion cupboard out for a spin
The candidate: Kirstin Grundy,
Grazia’s lifestyle coordinator
The mission, should Kirstin choose to accept it: To see how over-the-knee boots – the hottest things accessory-wise to emerge from the A/W 09-10 runways (see
Chloé, Stella McCartney
and
Louis Vuitton
to name a few) – fare off the catwalk. Do they cut it in the real world?
The case in favour: “These boots are gorgeous. The leather is incredible – soft, delicate and amazing quality. They’re an investment piece I’d one day pass down to my daughter (at this price you have to justify!) I love the fact they are flats; comfortable enough to wear all day long but glamorous enough not to have to bother with heels. You could still get wear out of your super-short minis in the approaching winter months as these boots keep me warm all they way up. I love the buckle detail at the back – sexy swashbuckling!”
The case against: “Our office of fashion-savvy girls have ooh-ed and aah-ed enough to convince me I look hot, but I’m worried about the looks and sniggers I’d get wearing them out on the street. Also my knees are a bit restricted by the leather, it’s not really easy to sit down or walk (I’m sure this would stretch over a few wears) but I guess being seriously fashionable isn’t always comfortable.”
The verdict: “Even though the thought of over-the-knee boots was daunting at first (it’s those
Pretty Woman connotations), they turned out to be surprisingly practical – especially the flat variety. Definitely a new addition to my winter wardrobe – they automatically glam up any outfit.”
Where to buy: Chloé boots, $2295 (Miss Louise, 03 9654 7730 or www.misslouise.com.au)
